Why is it that when you buy your girl something like this...
...she'd rather play with something like this...
And when you buy your boy something like what the girl likes to play with, he'd rather do things like this...
...and this...

I have not yet met a child who played with their new toys as much as he played with the stuff on my counter.
This applies to full grown children, too.
I love the banana-pretzel sculpture. That is really great.
My kids play with almost none of their toys except the legos. Give them some paper, map pencils, scissors and glue, and you'll never see them again except for when they pop out of the playroom to show you what they made.
I am so glad I discovered your blog; I now have a lot of reading to do. Thanks for putting all of this out there for homeschooling moms that make no claims to perfection and Christians with no interest in learning Christian-ese.
Our son will be starting his first year of homeschool next year, and your opinions and experiences are so far right up there with John Holt books on my ranking for useful information.
I have just discovered your blog and have read most of the posts in the past few days. I like your views and will be a regular reader.
Mother - You're supposed to offer me HOPE! ;-)
Wendy - It's actually an airplane, he tells me.
Audra - Thanks for stopping by!
I just returned from 5 days of camping on Lake Michigan, or my replies would have been quicker.
